JACOB HONNOLD came from Stuttgart, Germany to America in 1780. Settled first in Fairfax County, (later sub-divided into Loudoun County), Virginia. He later removed to Bellemont, Ohio, where he died. He married MARTHA JACKSON (an English lady), possibly in Loudoun County, Virginia. Their children were: 1. Jacob Honnold; 2. John Honnold; 3. Richard Honnold; 4. Samuel Honnold; 5. JAMES HONNOLD (see below); 6. Mary Honnold; 7. Elizabeth Honnold; 8 Catherine Honnold; The said JAMES HONNOLD, (see above), married ELIZABETH_____(maiden name unknown). Their son was RICHARD HONNOLD born May 17, 1812 in Loudoun County, Virginia; married Hannah Bradford on November 17, 1831 in Muskingum, Ohio, and died on October 27, 1877. She was the daughter of JOHN BRADFORD and SANAH BRADFORD nee__________. Queries: Is the line of HANNAH BRADFORD wife of RICHARD HONNOLD (both above mentioned) connected with the line of GOVERNOR WILLIAM BRADFORD, MAYFLOWER PASSENGER? (b) HARDIN—ANDERSON—SCHENCK—HOFFMAN. Further information regarding the following Virginia and Indiana families. Ancestral lines, Revolutionary service records; names of descendants especially desired. (1.) WILLIAM HARDIN born in Faquier County, Virginia on January 8, 1791; married, in 1815; MARY ANDERSON (born 1795—died 1835); and died in 1857 in Marion County, Indiana. He was the son of ________HARDIN, (Revolutionary soldier), and she was the daughter of _______ANDERSON, (Revolutionary soldier). Query: Wanted their given names, proof of their services in the Revolutionary war, any genealogical or historical data pertaining to said soldiers and also any data regarding their ancestors or descendants. Where would said data be obtainable? (2.) LOUIS HARDIN, (son of WILLIAM HARDIN (1) and MARY HARDIN nee ANDERSON), (see above), was born on April 4, 1821 and married REBECCA SCHENCK (born Dec. 5, 1821). Her father was SAMUEL SCHENCK who was born on October 1, 1786 and married MARY HOFFMAN who died in 1856. The father of the said SAMUEL SCHENCK may have been JOHN SCHENCK. Query 1: What was the name of SAMUEL SCHENCK’S father? 2. Did said father have Revolutionary war service and, if so, with what troops? 3. (b) ________DAVIS with wife, son, and daughter were said to have been enroute on the ocean to America and were all presumed to have been lost in the ocean with the exception of the son. EMBREE—HARRISON—Wanted:: Further information about certain branches of said Georgia families. (a)—1. JOHN EMBREE (who lived near Wrightsboro in Columbia County, Georgia) died about 1826 in said county. He married ELIZABETH HARRISON who was the daughter of RICHARD HARRISON and BETSEY HARRISON nee _________. Their wills were filed in the Court House at Appling, Columbia County, Georgia. Family tradition states that this Harrison family came from Virginia. It is thought that JOHN EMBREE may have been connected with an EMBREE family of Flushing, Long Island, New York, and Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey. There is a possibility of a relationship between the said JOHN EMBREE and Moses Embree and ___________Embree of Pennsylvania. The question of religion seems to be in doubt as he was reported to have been a French Huguenot and also to have been a Quaker according to family tradition. He (JOHN EMBREE) and his wife both lived to be quite old. Queries; 1. Did he have Revolutionary War service? 2. DAVIS—HEFLIN—Wanted: The ancestral lines and names of descendants of two certain families named DAVIS and HEFLIN. Either one or both families resided or their descendants resided in the states of North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, and Missouri. Further data will be appreciated. WILLIAM BURKETT DAVIS and wife ELIZABETH CAROLINE DAVIS nee HEFLIN were the parents of two children, namely, Louisa Allen Davis and Newton Green Davis who were born in Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee. ELIZABETH CAROLINE HEFLIN, (see above), was born on February 22, 1832 in Bowling Green, Kentucky and was the daughter of Sewell (?) Heflin and_________Heflin nee Dietrick (?). The other children of Sewell (?) Heflin and Caroline Heflin nee Dietrick (?) were: 1. Sarah Heflin who married an Austin. 2. Martha Heflin who married an Arnold. Ellen Heflin. 4. A daughter who married a Mr. Ditto. 5. Lewis Heflin. 6. Hawkins Heflin who married Margaret Gibbs on March 7, 1867 in Warren County, Kentucky and gave his age as nineteen years; birthplace, Smith County, Tennessee; residence, Simpson County, Kentucky; occupation, farmer; birthplace of father, North Carolina; birthplace of mother, Tennessee; 7. James Heflin who died in Missouri. Later his widow went to Texas with three children.

DAVIS—WILLIAM BURKETT DAVIS had two brothers, namely, RUFUS DAVIS and WYLIE DAVIS who went to Texas before the War between the States. SAMUEL FLANNAGAN who was born near Richmond, Virginia, in 1788, moved to Limestone County, Alabama and died in 1870. He married first__________Farrer, issue two children, i.e., William Flannagan who was deceased before 1893 and James Flannagan who was living in Alabama in 1893. He married second ANN LONG, (a native of Alabama who was the daughter of GABRIEL LONG and ANN LONG nee_________who were said to have been of Irish descent and natives of Georgia), in Rogersville, Alabama. My ancestor, John P. Norvell mentions his son-in-law, William C. Mayfield, in his will of Nov. 1830 in Lauderdale Co., Ala. His father, Spencer Norvell, in his will of 1829 in Amherst Co. Virginia, mentions his daughters—Peachy Doyle, Frances Appleberry and Susanna Sneed, wife of Burwell Sneed. He also refers to their children.

My ancestors, William Read (or Reed) in his will of 1764 in Brunswick Co., Va., mentions daughters—Frances Stone, Susanna Mathews, Catherine Quarles and Elizabeth Manning. Most of the names are spelled several ways in Virginia records, when referring to the same family.

He was a member of the Virginia Legislature from Ohio County in 1811. The said WILLIAM IRWIN and ELEANOR IRWIN nee VANCE were living in Jefferson County, Ohio in 1815. Their children were: 1. (It is said that this family named EDDINS are descended from a family whose descendants spell their names in various ways, viz., EDEN, EDENS, EDDINGS, and EDDINS.) THEOPHILUS EDDINS migrated from Virginia to South Carolina. His wife was named ELIZABETH EDDINS nee ____________ . Their son, BENJAMIN EDDINS, was a noted Revolutionary soldier, (see “Annals of Newberry” by J.B. O’Neal; Lossing’s “Field Book of the American Revolution”; South Carolina Historical Magazine, Vol. 2, April 1901, page 103). The said BENJAMIN EDDINS married JUDITH NORRIS and their son JOSEPH BALUS EDDINS married ELIZABETH WALKER who was the daughter of SAMUEL WALKER (of Edgefield), and his wife, MARTHA JEFFERSON WALKER nee BELL. PIKE—YOUNG. Wanted: Any information concerning the ancestors and descendants of two brothers, namely, WILLIAM PIKE and ABRAHAM PIKE (who may have been ABRAM PIKE as he was called “Uncle Abe”). They lived in the vicinity of Nashville, Tenn., and very likely in Robertson County, Tenn. There is a possibility that they lived in or near Springfield or Youngsville in said county. Query: Were they related to WILLIAM PIKE who was born in Springfield, Tenn. about 1770? The said WILLIAM PIKE, (first above mentioned), emigrated to Southern Illinois by wagon train and crossed the Ohio River into ILLINOIS at Shawneetown. It is thought that this emigrant train crossed the Ohio River sometime between the years 1819 and 1829. It is said that prior to leaving Tennessee he married LOUCINDA YOUNG. Among the known children were: William Presley Pike born May 29, 1929—died December 31, 1911, Elijah Pike, Thomas Pike, and George Pike. BROWN—HULL. Wanted: Information concerning these families. ELIJAH BROWN who was born on February 17, 1766 in New Jersey; married on January 29, 1793 ELIZABETH HULL who was born on November 10, 1773 in New Jersey. He died in Athens County, Ohio, on June 18, 1857. She died in the same county on November 22, 1854. It is not known where they were married but it is known that they came from Pennsylvania to Ohio. Query: 1. What were their ancestral lines? 2. Were any of their ancestors soldiers of the Revolution? Jeremiah Brown, (son of ELIJAH BROWN and ELIZABETH BROWN nee HULL) was born April 24, 1806; married Susannah______; lived in Athens County, Ohio until about 1850 when he migrated west to either Indiana or Illinois.
