HUMPHRIES (or HUMPHREYS)—In the Federal census of 1830 there was recorded several families named HUMPHREYS (or HUMPHRIES) in the counties of Carter, Sullivan, and Washington in Tennessee. There is a possibility that there were families with similar names in Johnson County, Tenn. The location and identity of one PELHAM HUMPHRIES (or HUMPHREYS) about the year of 1820 to the year of 1830 (or 1832) is particularly desired. It is thought that some of these families came to Tennessee from Rutherford County, North Carolina, after 1800 (or 1810). Correspondence is desired with all descendants of these respective families. Any information regarding the present address of any HUMPHRIES (or HUMPHREYS) families will be appreciated. Address CLAUDE A.
