EDDINS—NORRIS—BELL—WALKER. Wanted: Information concerning these families. (It is said that this family named EDDINS are descended from a family whose descendants spell their names in various ways, viz., EDEN, EDENS, EDDINGS, and EDDINS.) THEOPHILUS EDDINS migrated from Virginia to South Carolina. His wife was named ELIZABETH EDDINS nee ____________ . Their son, BENJAMIN EDDINS, was a noted Revolutionary soldier, (see “Annals of Newberry” by J.B. O’Neal; Lossing’s “Field Book of the American Revolution”; South Carolina Historical Magazine, Vol. 2, April 1901, page 103). The said BENJAMIN EDDINS married JUDITH NORRIS and their son JOSEPH BALUS EDDINS married ELIZABETH WALKER who was the daughter of SAMUEL WALKER (of Edgefield), and his wife, MARTHA JEFFERSON WALKER nee BELL. The said JOSEPH BALUS EDDINS and ELIZABETH EDDINS nee WALKER were the parents of BENJAMIN FARRAR EDDINS who married ELIZABETH MacCRACKEN. Queries: 1. Would like to know why the names of “Balus” and “Farrar” were used in this EDDINS family and if they are the names of related families.—BENJAMIN FARRAR EDDINS and ELIZABETH EDDINS nee MacCRACKEN were my grandparents.
