DAVIS—ANGEL—Wanted: Any genealogical, historical and Revolutionary war service data regarding DAVIS families in Yadkin and Chatham Counties, North Carolina. (a) WILLIAM DAVIS, (who resided near Boonville, Yadkin County, N. C.), married ELIZABETH ANGEL (place and date of marriage unknown at present to writer). She was the daughter of JOHN ANGEL, (a Revolutionary solder), who is said to have been a Chaplain in General Washington’s army and according to family tradition served many years during the Revolution. Family tradition says that _______DAVIS, (who was the father of WILLIAM DAVIS, (see above), was born in Chatham County, N. C.; was a Quaker minister; served as County Treasurer of Chatham County, N. C.; and later removed to Yadkin County, N. C. All of the children of WILLIAM DAVIS and ELIZABETH DAVIS nee ANGEL, (both above mentioned), were born and reared in Yadkin County, N. C. And it is said that he remained in said County and cared for his parents in their old age, on the old home estate. QUERIES: 1. Wanted the names; dates of births, marriages, and deaths of the parents of said WILLIAM DAVIS, (see above), also the ancestral lines of both parents; also data regarding Revolutionary service of said parent. Any data will be appreciated. 2. Wanted the names; dates of births, marriages, and deaths of the parents of JOHN ANGEL, (see above), and his wife (name unknown), also the ancestral lines of both parents of each; also data regarding the Revolutionary services of the said JOHN ANGEL. Any data will be appreciated. (b.) The children of ________DAVIS and wife (name unknown) were (so far as it is known at present) as follows: 1. WILLIAM DAVIS (see above) who married ELIZABETH ANGEL, (see above); 2. Thomas Davis who migrated to Missouri, married there and later removed to Iowa, locating in Mills County, Iowa; where he died at the age of 60 years—married a sister of the wife of his brother, Thomas Davis; and died in Missouri.—4. Isaac Davis who migrated to Iowa and is supposed to have settle at or near Salem, Henry County, Iowa, (one tradition says Keokuk County, Iowa). 5. John Davis who migrated to Indiana. 6. Jonathan Davis who migrated to Indiana. 7 Mary Davis who married Stephen Jarvis and settled in Surry County, N. C. 8. ELIZABETH Davis who married David Woodruff and settled in Surry County, N. C. Wanted the names and addresses of the descendants of any or all of the eight above mentioned children of ______DAVIS and wife (name unknown) no matter where they are now living.
